Studying Again

I wrote this some time ago, then left it unpublished. Now I think I will still publish it. Do people still read blogs?
Recently, I did some studying. More precisely, studying about sustainability in business. I chose to focus on the fashion industry (among other things) and for a reason too. We are faced with a global problem of overproduction/overconsumption of clothes.
Just look at these statistics collected by the European Parliament. Annually, an EU citizen discards around 11-12 kg of textile waste, 1 % of latter is used for new clothes.
We are also dealing with natural resource depletion, extreme water use and chemicals, not to mention climate change issues.
In February I attended an event at the European Parliament focused on a project entitled "Higher Ground - Fashion’s Climate Breakdown and its Effect for Workers". This helped me realize what it must be like for workers dealing with extreme heat and moisture at production locations.
Luckily, things are happening. The EU institutions have been, are processing or are planning on processing files on sorting, reuse, recycling, ESG-standards, (green) claims, apparel labelling, etc.
This is Europe acting on things. But it is not to say all our problems will be fixed, far from that. But at least there is some action. That is what I also told myself recently, I will try and be more active, hence this blog post as well. Stay tuned for more.
